The Foundation recently received approval from the Internal Revenue Service to become a community foundation. While this change in status from a private foundation does not alter the mission of the Foundation, it does give the Foundation more flexibility when it comes to grant giving. It also permits the Foundation to establish donor advised funds, whereby the donor may name the fund and advise the Foundation on distributions from the fund. The donor may be an individual, a family or a community organization.
