Mayor's Bulletin – July 2010

RE: Noise

Recently your Borough Council passed an Ordinance having to do with prohibiting excessive noise and setting penalties for violation.
These are the main points of the Ordinance:

  1. It is unlawful for any owner to permit any loud, disturbing and unnecessary noise on his or her property, i.e. yelling, shouting, singing, whistling, blowing horns, etc., between the hours of 11 PM and 7 AM.
  2. Radios, musical instruments, television sets, or any machine or electronic devices must be operated at a reasonable sound level during the 11PM/7AM hours.
  3. Violators, upon conviction, will pay a fine of not more than $600.00 or, in default of payment, be sentenced to 30 days confinement.

You may call the State police at the time of the offence  and/or register a Noise Complaint at the Borough Office during regular office hours.  You must be willing to appear at any subsequent hearing.

I have touched only briefly on the actual wording of this Ordinance for the sake of speed and brevity. You may read the Ordinance in its entirety in PUBLIC NOTICES in the "Sully" dated Wednesday, May 19, 2010 or at the Borough Hall office.

Here's to respite and refuge for all who love the quiet of Eagles Mere.
